You want to follow Christ. What's next?

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward change. It symbolises dying to our 'old self' and living our new life in Christ. We do not believe baptism saves, but it's commanded in the Bible for every believer (Matthew 28:19-20).

Anyone who becomes a follower of Jesus and trusts him as Saviour and Lord should take this next step of faith and identify with Jesus.

What is baptism?

Baptism is immersion in water as a symbol of your new life in Christ

Full immersion baptism is being gently lowered under water and then brought back up again. This is a symbol of being washed clean from sin and starting a new life with Jesus. Going down into the water represents death to the old life, and coming up represents new life in Christ.

“They both went down into the water… and he baptised him. And when they came up out of the water…” Acts 8:38–39

When should I be baptised?

As soon as you believe.

You don’t have to have everything in order before being baptised. In fact, baptism is a way of saying, 'I need Jesus’ grace and forgiveness.' If you’re ready to follow Him, there’s no reason to wait.

"Those who believed...were baptised...that day!"  Acts 2:41

Who should be baptised?

Every person who believes in Jesus.

"But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News...and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women."  Acts 8:12
